Jenga

Jenga is a classic game of physical and mental skill where players take turns removing a single block from a tower and balancing it on top, creating an increasingly unstable structure. The game ends when the tower falls.

Official Jenga Rules

Here are the official rules for playing classic Jenga:

  1. Setup the Tower: Use the loading tray to build the initial tower. Arrange all 54 blocks into 18 levels, with each level consisting of three blocks placed side-by-side along their long sides. Each new layer of three blocks must be placed at a right angle (perpendicular) to the layer immediately below it.
  2. Starting the Game: Once the tower is built on a flat surface, the player who built the tower usually takes the first turn. Play proceeds to the left (clockwise).
  3. Taking a Turn:
  4. Remove one block: On your turn, use only one hand at a time to remove a single block from any level below the highest completed level of the tower. You may switch hands during your turn.
  5. Tap to Test: You can touch or gently nudge blocks to find a loose one. If you move a block but decide not to take it, you must return it to its original position (if possible without making the tower fall) before touching another block.
  6. Place on top: Once a block is successfully removed, place it on the topmost level of the tower, continuing the pattern of alternating directions for each new layer. You must complete the current top layer (three blocks) before starting a new one.

4. Ending a Turn: Your turn ends 10 seconds after you successfully place your block on top, or as soon as the next player touches the tower, whichever comes first.

5. Losing the Game: The game ends when the tower falls, or any block falls from the tower (other than the single block being moved on a turn). The player whose turn it was when the tower fell is the loser and is responsible for setting up the next game.
